Mumbai: Girl helps man murder mother and sister, both die by suicide – The Indian Express
A 17-year-old girl allegedly helped a 60-year-old driver employed by her family murder her mother and sister before both dying by suicide late Wednesday at a defunct private hospital in Kandivali (West).
While the deceased have been identified as Kiran Dalvi (46) and her daughter Muskan Sahu (24), the two who died by
suicide are Bhumi Dalvi and Shivdayal Sen.
The police said prolonged family issues led to the murders and the suicides. The driver, Shivdayal Sen, has been booked for murder by the Kandivali police. The incident came to light at 11.22 pm at the Radhabhai Dalvi hospital near Kandivali station. The hospital had shutdown around 15 years ago.
The Dalvi family, who owned the hospital, used to reside in the hospital building.
The police said Kiran’s husband Ashish had moved to their native place in Indore with their nine-year-old son some years ago.
“Muskan is Kiran’s daughter from the latter’s first marriage. It’s suspected that the driver murdered Kiran and Muskan and later, he and Bhumi hanged themselves,” said Vishal Thakur, DCP (Zone 11). The two were attacked with a sickle that has been found.
Senior Inspector Dinkar Jadhav of Kandivali police station said, “We received a call from the control room that a man is moving around armed with a sickle at the hospital. We rushed to the spot and found the bodies.”
Another officer said, “Kiran’s body was found on the second floor and Muskan was found injured in the kitchen on the terrace. The bodies of Sen and Bhumi were found hanging from a single rope running through two hooks on the ceiling in a locked room on the first floor.”
“We have found four suicide notes from Sen’s trousers. The note in English is suspected to have been written by Bhumi, who said she was unhappy that her father and mother were staying separately. The driver wrote in Hindi that he was unhappy with Kiran, whom he referred to as bhabhi, for fighting with Ashish. The deceased have mentioned that they are taking the extreme step due to prolonged family issues.”
The police said while Bhumi was a student, Muskan had completed accounting and finance course from KES Shroff college. Kiran used to run a parlour in Borivali.
“Sen was a family friend of the Dalvis. He has been staying with the family for the last 10 years. The phones of all the deceased will be sent to the forensic lab,” said an officer.
The family last week had gone to Indore by road to visit Ashish and returned on Sunday. Sen had driven them to Indore, said police. The police will be recording the statements of Ashish and other family members to find out what transpired during the visit, which may have triggered the murders.
